Information for exchange and visiting students

AAUC welcomes each year exchange students from several countries, mainly from Europe through the Erasmus exchange programme. We do however also receive visiting students from partner institutions outside Europe. Most students choose to stay for one semester (Fall or Spring), however, it is possible to stay for 2 semester/one academic year. The information below only apply to exchange students and visiting students.
NOTE: If you wish to apply for a full degree programme, please choose "Application/admission-non-exchange students" from the menue.

Application deadlines

a) Students with citizenship from EU/EEA countries:
Deadline for the fall semester and for the whole academic year: May 1st
Deadline for the spring semester: October 1st

b) Students with citizenship from non-EU/EEA countries:
Deadline for the fall semester and for the whole academic year: March 1st
Deadline for the spring semester: October 1st
* NOTE: Students from non-EU/EEA contries where visa is required, applying for the spring semester only, are strongly recommended to apply earlier than October 1st. All students who need an early reply are welcome to apply before the set deadline, but should in their application ask for an early reply and state the reason why this is needed.

Application procedures and requirements

All exchange and visiting students must have their stay abroad pre-approved by their home institution. Please contact your faculty coordinator or international office at your university for more information about application procedures and academic requirements. Students are required to have a good level of English at the same level as our other foreign students (cf entrance requirements to our bachelor degree programmes and master degree programmes). Students must also fullfill the prerequisites for the courses chosen (or have similar courses completed from their home universities)

Exchange students with good command of the Norwegian language (or Nordic citizens with very good/native command of Danish or Swedish) can apply for attending courses taught in Norwegian, provided they meet the courses' entrance requirements as described in the course descriptions. Complete information regarding courses taught in Norwegian is only available on our Norwegian web site, under "Studiehandbok"

Required documents for students applying for an exchange period as Erasmus or Visiting students are as follows:

  • Learning Agreement
  • Transcript of records in English from home university
  • Copy of valid passport
  • One passport-size photograph
  • Insurance (copy of European Health Insurance Card or similar) - may be sent later, but must be arranged before arrival Norway
  • Nursing and biomedical laboratory science students may be required to enclose certified copy of vaccination documents and/or other specific documents required for health personell, please contact your home coordinator for more information.

NOTE: Learning Agreement is a form with list of courses the student wishes to attend at AAUC - signed by their home institutional coordinator. This is a requirement for Erasmus exchange students, but we would also recommend study abroad students to send in the same form or a similar form issued by their home university.

The application with the required enclosures should be sent through the home university's coordinator by the application deadline.
