Maritime industry has always been a field of interest for me. Ålesund, being a big cluster of maritime industry is the main reason I opted this place for my higher education. Secondly, M.Sc. in Product and System Design is a course which is designed for both offshore and onshore industry. Thirdly, I found the contents of this course to be very interesting, practical and challenging. All the gates for entering the maritime industry are open after completion of this masters program.

The campus is spacious with an attractive design, and the environment is easy to adapt for the international students. Local students (Norwegian) possess friendly nature towards the international students who come from almost every part of the world. It feels good to interact with students having different lifestyles and cultures. The college staff is worth praising, especially the professors and student services. They are easy to approach and are always happy to help the student no matter how big or small a problem is. The professors are closely connected to the industry and I really appreciate the regular visits to local companies.

Aalesund University College has its own gymnasium where students spend their time for exercising and playing different games in order to keep themselves fit. Apart from this, the campus has a library with a good collection of books, computer labs which are open 24 hours for students, a book shop and a cafeteria. The students enjoys the 24 hours Internet facility which is provided free of cost by the college itself.

Living in Ålesund?

Ålesund is a good and peaceful place to live in. The residents of the city are friendly in nature, moreover they feel happy to interact with the outsiders. You are surrounded by most beautiful natural sceneries. The sun shining over the blue blanket of the Norwegian sea is one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen. Talking of the food, the Asian flavors are easily available in this city. Bicycle, buses are mean mode of transportation followed in this city. The city has very good bus service as well. The weather is really awesome in summers, and thousands of tourists visit this city to enjoy the peaceful weather and beautiful sceneries. The city in winters is covered by snow with a flow of cool winds. I recommend the students to come prepared for the cold climate.
