Visit from Ethiopia
Dr. Rahel Bekele Teklegeorgis
In October, Aalesund University College has the pleasure of having a visit from Dr. Rahel Bekele Teklegeorgis from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia.
The purpose of this visit is that Dr. Bekele will work with research and teaching related to database development, development of multimedia databases, advanced simulation, and visualization and knowledge in the professions.
PhD from Hamburg
Dr. Bekele is employed at the Faculty of Informatics, Department of Information Science at Addis Ababa University. She also has her doctorate degree from the University of Hamburg. During her stay in Ålesund, she will collaborate with Dr. Per Ekelund, associate professor in the Department of Technology and nautical subjects.
E-learning system
- The university I work at has 40 000 students spread over 12 faculties. We have recently highlighted the lack of teaching staff, and will therefore initiate measures to provide students with the right resources. Therefore I have come to your college to investigate and learn about the implementation of e-learning system at my university, says Dr Bekele.
Mutual benefits.
Per Ekelund had an engagement at Addis Ababa University, and knows Dr. Bekele from this period.
- She will share office with me during this time, and will also share with our faculty issues relevant to their research in Ethiopia. We are convinced that her visit to Ålesund will be to the mutual benefit of our institutions, says Mr. Ekelund.
Big difference
-One cannot compare Aalesund University College with my university, says Dr. Bekele. Your University is small compared to the Addis Ababa University. Everyone knows everyone here, and it can be a great advantage when it comes to providing the best service to the student. My stay so far has been good. The staff are pleasant, and to cooperate with Per Ekelund has been a pleasure, concludes Dr. Bekele.
