Norway received first place in the annual UN Human Development Index which was released Monday.

The index compiled by the UN Development Program (UNDP) has ranked 182 countries based on criteria such as: life expectancy, literacy and writing skills, the school system and the gross domestic product (GDP) per inhabitant.
