Learning outcome

After course the students should be able to:

  • give an overview of system involved, how they are assembled, how they work and interfacing.
  • explain function and design of basic machinery systems, such as main propulsion, cooling systems, fuel sytems etc.
  • make systematic analyzis of complex systems and part systems for ship machinery
  • evaluate alternative systems with regards to efficiency, cost, safety and environmental issues.
  • systematically execute a design task.
